Job description
United Tissue Resources is dedicated to meeting patient needs for allograft tissue. It is through this dedication that approximately 4,000 tissue grafts are distributed to area hospitals annually for life-saving surgeries and what drives us to provide bereavement support to assist donor families during their grief.

The role of the Director of Business Development is to define, develop, and implement strategic business relationships for the establishment of new contracted donor referral sources and end user distribution service agreements in assigned service areas. The Business Development Director will take the lead in the development of new business opportunities as well as expand services to existing accounts that support UTR’s overall growth strategy by working closely with Operation’s Directors to maximize and grow the UTR footprint and generate bottom line revenue for the company.

Responsibilities:
• Develop new business opportunities with assigned donor referral sources, vendors, hospitals, GPOs and other potential customers at all stages of the business cycle to include targeting, prospecting and presenting compelling business propositions.
• Work effectively with C-Level decision makers, i.e. CFO, CEO, VPs and Directors to develop long term strategic relationships.
• Prepare and present powerful, persuasive presentations that effectively demonstrate the value proposition of UTR value add solutions.
• Develop and maintain a robust offerings pipeline toward targeted entities to continuously grow the business. Work closely with Operations and Executive Management.
• Effectively assist UTR management with large scale, complex contracts negotiations and close new business deals. Work closely with VP, Risk Management, and COO.
• Collaborate with other professional services and support teams to ensure successful implementations.
• Develop and execute a strategic business plan that meets or exceeds established goals and profitability targets.
• Attend conferences and professional association meetings to promote UTR’s value add solutions.
• Prepare and give business reviews to the UTR senior management team on a monthly basis.
• Facilitate the execution of contracts with new hospital referral sources.
• Develop and facilitate the execution of Memorandums of Agreement (MOUs) with all out of hospital referral partners, when applicable.
• Participate in UTR special functions and community events.
• Provide leadership and direction for reporting staff in evaluating, coaching, and counseling employees.
• Function as a mentor; providing guidance, training and counsel; investigate and rectify employee performance and/or behavioral inadequacies; conduct fair, effective, unbiased and factual performance appraisals of department; identify individual and departmental training needs, direct development of training plans and programs, conduct training sessions and maintain training documentation as needed; review statistics and other performance data to measure employee productivity and goal achievement.
• Provide a high level of customer service through timely and ongoing communication, presence, and visibility.
• Maintain and manage accurate, up to date, account profiles on all contracted partners.
• Special projects as assigned.

Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Bio-engineering or health care field; some graduate level courses in Management preferred; or in place of degree five years’ work experience required.
• A current licensed RN or PA-c is preferred.
• Requires at least 5-7 years of customer service experience in an organ, tissue banking, or medical device field at a senior level.
• Must be a CTBS or test for CTBS at next available exam cycle.
• Requires in-depth knowledge of the allograft and device industry.
• Must have healthcare contract negotiations experience.
• Must be team oriented with the ability to lead by example.
• Requires IT operating knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs i.e. Excel, Power point and Project Management software.
• Must have strong experience with budgetary control processes.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Must exhibit professional conduct and demeanor at all times.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Must have creative talents and the ability to solve tough problems.
• Must have the ability to self-start, handle pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Requires excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Texas driver’s license, proof of insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to assimilate information and draw reasonable conclusions.
• Must have reliable transportation. Travel is essential to this position and must be able to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
• Ability to adapt to change and facilitate change in a positive and professional manner.
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
